No it's not wild!! :) Wish it was, I took this at a recent workshop at the local Country Park, I have mixed feelings about the image because it was taken under contrived conditions, having said that I think it is a beautiful bird - even in moult. It was also an exercise for me to develop a few Photoshop skills - hope you like it , all comments welcome.

IMHO nothing wrong with captive / setups , as long as you state that is what it is. This is a very natural looking image as it shows normal/typical behavior for this subject. The shot itself is beautiful with fine detail and very good composition. I might tone down the log a bit , but still a ral nice image. wish it were on my hard drive.:)

    I agree!!

Nice image overall, whites on the owl look good as does sharpness. Although the perch has nice texture I'm not really fond of the way it ends at top. I also wish the head was turned a bit more in order to see the far eye a bit...right now that eye is just teasing an appearance. The BG spot touching the mouse could be eliminated as well.

Must have been fun to spend some time with one of these beauties, even if it was captive. Exposure and sharpness are excellent. I would consider removing the gray spot to the left of the mouse and also toning down the perch.

Thanks for the feed back, I did wonder about the pale bit by the mouse but i left it there because I thought the background would perhaps look a little contrived and it is actually natural.

What a beautiful bird!, I can find nothing wrong with this image except that the mouse looks a fraction "over deceased" (I like mine wriggling a bit) no doubt you could remove the odd blemish here and there but I does it for me as is.

    Great capture.
