Alan - Now there is a bird I have not seen and I thank you for sharing it. It brings to mind our Eastern (Rufous-Sided) Towhee. I've been shooting blue grosbeaks lately near my home. Terrific shot by the way, as always.

Nice setup on the blooming Ocitillo. I do not know if I have ever seen this plant with such full blooms.
Love Madera Canyon and all the canyons in the area.
The striking part of this pic is the black of the bird with the red of the blooms.

The colors of the bird and perch are very complimentary of each other. I would think this particular bird, which I have never seen, could otherwise look quite drab. So the colorful perch really makes this one a winner. Another one of your high quality images. Love it! :)

Hey Alan, very nice image. Well exposed, and sharp as a tack. Do you have more room on the right hand side in the RAW image?

Great sharp detail and IQ. Like the pose, perch and glint in the eye. Subject is well exposed with good natural colours against a killer bg. Well done !
