Good sharpness and a nice head angle Joel. Might have stopped down a little and bumped my ISO to 640 in an effort to get the tail feathers sharp. I might back off on the brightness of the top half of the bird. It's a subtle change, but it shows off more of the coloration of the bird and balances out the tonality of the image a little better.

    Hi Joel,
Excellent technical execution - lighting, focus, subject position. The background is great. I would like to see more of background on the right hand side.
That is the only thing I can see to help and it is completley subjective. siigh.
    Thanks for sharing,
    Take care,
    Clive

Nice pose, you positioned the lighter background perfectly behind the bird. Did you do anything special to get it to perch on the stick? Ours tend to be deep in a tree, high in a tree, or on the ground. I've noticed the light blue circle around the eye on some of ours. Anyone know if that is sex or age related?

    thanks,
    Alan

Thanks Doug, the repost is a definite improvement.

Alan, I was using a platform feeder and placed the perch nearby, the doves do like to feed on the ground alot but they will occassionally get on the platform and perches.

Nice dove, Joel...I also like the tweaks that Doug made. I thought the top half of the bird was just a bit too light as well and more DOF on those tail feathers would also be a plus.

Alan, I checked my Sibley Bird Guide book and it appears that only the adults have the blue ring so it looks like it's an age-related quality. I had never noticed it being missing before; they must all be "oldsters" in my backyard!

Hi Joel - Doug's repost has improved,as mentioned Good HA - Nice detail and Like the BG. I also would have liked to see the tail a little more in focus - Dougs idea about bumping the ISO a little would have helped.
    Good show :)

Doug hit the main points - love the pose and composition.

I love the eye and eye-ring - really nice image.
