    Default Tui in B & W.

Recent mid-morning image of this New Zealand honeyeater.
    400 ISO 1/350 @ F8. EV minus 0.5 Multi segment metered.
Unfortunately original in colour image was spoilt with a touch of CA.
Used the Photoshop Elements conversion to B & W options to select an edit.
    Comments appreciated.
    Thanks: Ian Mc

Hi Ian, this is an interesting bird. I would wish for a better shooting angle and background. I suggest using a dark vignette to help minimize the branches and cropping a bit tighter all around to bring focus to your subject.. I would like to see the color version too.

And here is my best colour effort with the dreaded CA.
I did try Topaz Denoise 5 but without success.

Ian, The BG seems a bit busy biut I think that the black and white version helps to make it more cohesive. I'm not a big fan of putting the bird dead center. I think you did a nice job w/ the NR and the conversion.

Ian, I agree with Kerry on wanting a less busy BG and a better shooting angle. The B&W conversion improves it, but personally I don't think it's quite enough. Cloning out some of the branches especially those merging with the bird might help.

    Thanks Denise & Christopher.
Might give it a whirl with "Remask 2"

Ian, I like the image in B&W. I agree about cleaning up some of the branches in the bg and a tighter crop, but I like the berries on the right so I wouldn't want to lose all of them.:)

Well I decided that I've a bit more experience of cloning than using remask so here is the cloned version to take some of the business out of the background.
Thanks again for all the observations and suggestions.

    Fair enough Denise. LOL.
I'm leaning towards less editing the better even if a bit cluttered !!!
