Today here in Ottawa, with all the snow, reminded me of a trip out to Riverhurst, Saskatchewan...was a 2000 mile birding trip in late November. When I got there it was a balmy -3C and next day when I was ready to photograph, the weather turned ugly..I give these Sharp-tailed Grouse lots of credit, it was -39C and 40km winds, with blowing snow. They were out foraging. We haven't broken our 31 year record but were darn close..so far this winter we've gotten almost 12.25 feet (record is 14.5) of snow. I think everyone in town is waving a white flag now for spring.

    Paul,

Image is little dark on my monitor and see some noise. What the ISO of this image?

f/25? Did this push your ISO higher?

...and after today's nasty episode we've most likely topped the 13' mark!! Shovelled twice today and the plow hasn't passed yet so that guarantees a third time once it passes...plus a bit more snow forecast overnight...it never ends:eek:

I like Al's repost, much more pop to it. I really like the windswept snowscape you captured Paul. Next time I visit some friends in Northern Ontario I hope to be able to photograph this species.

Thanks all, will try and match repost...what software are you using Alfred? Love what you did, will have to learn. Just for info we got 16 more inches of snow overnight, so much for my white flag....lol
