This cub gave us quite a show in a dry riverbed in the Sabi-Sands Game Reserve. Sadly I have learned this week she was killed by one of the neighbouring males...:(
A late-afternoon storm was building so overcast conditions helped enhance the tones here.
We are leaving tomorrow for a road-trip which will take me amongst other locations to the Addo Elephant National Park as well as the Mountain Zebra National Park for some interesting photography.
Techs:
Nikon D3s with 200-400mm VR
f4.0 @ 1/400 SS @ ISO-1250

Have a great trip Morkel, look forward to seeing your photos. This is a cute image, made very poignant by the news she has been killed … nature can be hard. It looks like it could do with a little more density on my monitor, but as far as composition goes I like the placement in the frame and the eager look on her face.
I like it! - nice mischievous glint in her eyes, muted tones which I find very appealing.
Have a great trip, looking forward to your images. I would love to live in your part of the world! try to get there at least once in 18mths but would love to have time for a leisurely trip. Maybe one of these years.....
Deborah - I can say the same for you, would love to be able to explore all the natural wonders of North America, not to mention the glorious wildlife and landscapes of British Columbia and Alaska :D
I like the picture of this cub too :) But I like a little bit more contrast in the picture too pop out! If I say this correct. The pic needs a little bite more "bite" You now what I mean?
Morkel - I too like the look and the overall comp. Not sure about the oof paws of another lion in the top of the frame. So sad that she has since been killed. Hope you have a great and successful trip.
