I like the angle of the perch and the subject contrast of the delicate little bird and the thorny perch -- not too crazy about the thorns between the bird and the camera especially across the chest

Good looking bird, and I like how it's tones match those of the perch. Perfect HA, and good comp. Too bad about that thorn crossing the body, but that is the nature of such a perch. I'd eliminate the ugly bit of branch just barely touching the frame's edge at left.

To the above, I would add that I'd have liked slightly more of a profile in the head angle. Also, the sharpest focus seems to be in front of the eye. I might have considered stopping down just a bit.

    Hey Ram,
Excellent advice given above. I do think if you darken that thorn across the body....may give the extra needed seperation. Worth exploring.

I like the image a lot and I like the perch ... I am pretty sure it is not a Black-headed Munia (Lonchura malacca) but a juvenile Indian Silverbill (Euodice malabarica). Shape, tail-length and color of the bill as well as the color speaks against Lonchura malacca the younsters of the black-headed munia look very similar to number 62 on this http://www.hofmann-photography.de/in..._estrild/asia/ link.... for a study on the evolution of the mouth markings I bred quite a number of this birds in captivity so I am fairly sure.

But I like the image I wish it would be my image :-)

    Cheers Geraldo
