I created this image from a small boat on a farm dam close to Kruger National Park. Kingfisher baited with bream from the same water system. Top to bottom as shot, only cropped from the sides.

Spectacular action and killer splashes. But with the bird angled away and the high contrast this one does not work for me.

Tremendous sense of action here, with flying water, fish, pose. The bird doesn't look quite sharp on my monitor. I have seen this challenge many times in my pictures of loons splashing about. The camera will often focus on the high contrast splashes at the expense of the bird. I also think that some of the spray in the air can prevent a clear view of the bird. Still, it tells quite a story!
Thanks for your honest comments folks. Robert I cant really remember on this one but if the fish is clearly visible on the service I will always try and focus on the fish otherwise I will pan. Randy I agree, The splsh will affect the focus.
