Late morning, heavy overcast skies (our "summer" weather this year).
Few egrets around this year... finally, a group of about a dozen at the local estuary.
Hi Michael - like the action and the water drops are a nice touch.
IMHO - the OOF tree in the background forms a very strong shape along with a contrast line were the water meets the shore - does keep drawing my eye away from the subject.
Some of the whites along the edge of the back look like they might be getting borderline - light behind you (though maybe not possible) might have improved.
Keep em coming :)
Greetings. Thanks for the comments... not the best conditions... top lit, I see the borderline whites (overcooked lifting in pp, can do better). Agree on background.
Pat,
Greetings. Thanks for the comment. This was taken at a small estuary off 23rd Ave. in Santa Cruz (where the radio towers are). It is a hit and miss kind of thing, but I drive by there often, not too far from my house. Egrets, GBH, kiingfishers, terns, various ducks, killdeer, (I swear I got a glimpse of a reddish a few days ago)... also another estuary just up the road a bit at 26th.
Oh, by the way, I post the full exif, and it has the GPS coords in it. Pop this in Google maps:
36.96088667,-121.98387833
And you'll see where I was standing (even the background log to the right ;) )
