    Default Summer of Freckles....

Took this image last month in natural light. Like how the yellows "pop" on this one. The black BG also works for me here. Tried an off center composition. This flower is less than 1 1/2 " in diameter. Think it's some kind of dwarf iris. Can't find it in any of my reference textbooks. Hope someone knows...

Charles, I can't be sure on the ID but I would agree that Dwarf Iris would be a good guess. You've kept your yellows in check and the black BG really does pop this one. I think you've chosen a pleasing composition. Nicely done.

    Hey Charles,
Agree that the black BG is making the flower stand out. Perhaps a hair more light on the center of the bloom (only the whitish areas ) but al in all....nicely done!

    Denise & Roman,

Thanks for the kind comments. Roman I did not try to dodge/burn on this image. Will go back and give it a try...

I like the composition very much. It stood out for me in the thumbnails. I like the simplicity of the image--fitting for the flower. I would lighten it also, though probably not with dodge and burn, maybe curves? Just a bit more light to make it pop. Lovely colors and restrained presentation.
