    Here is another image from my trip to Brooks Falls. I had switched from my 300 f2.8 to my 500 f4 with the intention of getting some head shots. This one bear seemed to stand up fairly often and look for fish in the water below him, then pounce on the fish. In the process of watching him for quite a while, I manged to get this frame where he seemed to be looking straight at me.

    Details: Canon 40d, Canon 500 f4L IS lens, 1/500 @ f4.5, iso 400, tripod mounted.

    A lovely shot, great eye contact. I mentioned in an earlier post how difficult bears are to photograph because of their small deep-set eyes - you've certainly managed to overcome this!

    A good example of how patience and observation pays off!

    I can think of nothing else to say other than perfect, the quality of recent Bear posts is amazing.
