American white pelican from White Rock Lake this morning where it was a nippy 27 degrees... A little chilly for Dallas in March.

Essentially full frame with bits off the ends.

    Feedback and comments always appreciated.

Nice pose and exposure control. It is a bit tight in the frame, needs a bit more sharpening and maybe a slight boost in contrast.

Always appreciate your feedback Axel... Upped the contrast and sharpening... Can't do anything about the framing vertically as that's all there is.

Steve I like the pose in this image. Axel has offered some good suggestions. As for the tight frame I would suggest adding some canvas on the top bottom, and perhaps the right, edges.

Adding canvas is not very difficult, especially since it's a clean BG. You could check out the tutorial Fabs wrote: http://www.birdphotographers.net/for...read.php?t=834

Here is the image with increased contrast, sharpness and some canvas added. I noticed that I use a different technique than Fabs.

The rework is very nice. A lot more punch!

Axel.... Sorry for the pause... I had some computer problems kick up just after my repost.

Just that little bit of room makes a big difference. I'm still using only LightRoom so I don't think I could've done that.

Thank you Axel and others for you comments!

Superb comp, with the pelican diagonally across the image. I think you got the exposure spot on, and a lovely blue sky BG. Well done.
