He wouldn't leave his fish, but he wasn't happy to see me there near him!

Welcome George, a nice image here. There are few warms spots on some of the white feathers. Would you please post some specs on this image. I would have liked to see the bird's left eye a little lighter as it is lost somewhat in shadow. A touch of fill flash may have helped.

This is a great close-up portrait. I love your choice of a square crop on this one. I agree with Stephen that this image would be even better with a little fill flash.

Great portrait and details. It would have been great if the sun would have been behind you. Some of the whites look borderline hot, maybe you can tone them down a bit.

Very lovely portrait and excellent detail. I agree about the lighting being behind as it would clear up the little nits. Still very nice image George and thanks for posting.

Thanks all for the feedback. This for me is one of the toughest things about Florida - you find a great subject in the mid day sun, and you just have to learn to live with it.

I have a few more of this guy, but since he was wild, he wouldnt let me get too well positioned.

Being new to the forum, I would like to ask - do I post a follow up photo here or do I start a new subject to give another example of this same bird?

A nice image indeed. The hot spots could be fixed easily in LR. Did you shoot RAW? These guys are pretty approachable when they're engaged in lunch....but usually not otherwise. I think the overall exposure is nice, just controlling the whites a bit.
