This fellow surprised me a bit when he got up and flapped his wings suddenly. As I was so close (this is uncropped) the virtual feet are missing. Still hope the image works. Thanks for looking. JR

I really like this image. The comp is good, image sharp. Whites look like they are a little blown in the head and neck but maybe you can recover detail from the RAW, if you have one. I also like the shadow detail of the left wing on the underside. Image shows well the cut-aways of the outer primaries. Grebes and loons use the rear-up and wing flap as a territorial display.

John well captured action here. John C. has mentioned the whites. You might also consider a little selective sharpening on the head particularly around the eye. A slight head turn towards you might have moved this up another level. Overall still a pleasing image.

Nice eye contact and wing flap. I would give it a bit more space, sharpen more and wish the bird's left wing had a better position to be able to see the underside.

A beautiful species and you captured some lovely action . I agree with the above comments concerning the whites and a tad more room and a touch of USM. Thaks for sharing John

Great pose and nice and sharp. Just a bit too tight on the right ;)
