    Just revisited my Chimps (or what Ihave left from them) and applied the techniques I have picked up in this forum.

    Taken in Mahale, Tanzania, 27th September 2007.

    EOS 1D MkIIn

    300mm F4 IS hand-held

    F4.5, ISO 800, 1/500.

    Incredible image! Chimps in the wild usually are portrayed as docile and huggable, you've managed to capture a more realistic scenario. As the facial features are so compelling, I would either crop out or tone down the background for a more initimate portrait.

    Lovely. With those dentures, one can inflict enough damage if required. The cooperative hunting behaviour often recorded gives an idea about their level of intelligence. Without the branch or root at the background, it would have been really good.

    Thanks for the comments, dentistry is clearly something that Chimps have not yet mastered. They certainly brutes one old male pushed me off a path not something I wish to repeat:D

    I would like to go there again, but those hills are mighty steep for me.

    A great moment well captured Ken. I would tone down the light diagonal stripe above the head.

    The BG is as you say very messy, I tried to tone the branch down, but it just would not go way.
