    Default Deadly Stare and Claws

Another from my recent Langkawi trip. The deadly moment before the claws hit the water.

What an amazing stare and pose in this capture. It looks as though he is coming right at you! I think the whites on the shoulders and head look a tad hot, and I may tone them down just a bit. In the perfect world of photography, this would have looked even better with an all green BG. That green really makes your bird pop!

    Jay:

To my eye, the bird is not critically sharp, probably from the relatively low shutter speed. The pose is excellent. Agree with Marina about the background. What species is this?

    Cheers

    Hi Jay,
I love the color of the water and the placement of the bird in frame works for me. Sharpness or lack of is my biggest issue. Do you have any in this series with the sings in downward position where the wing tips do not intersect with the horizon?
