We spent a wonderful few minutes with this cub and his mother in the Sabi-Sand Game Reserve, before a sudden African storm sent us scuttling back to our lodge. This cub is called "Supercub", because he is the only cub in the litter - in which case they normally don't make it since the parents don't go to a lot of trouble to preserve one cub. He has however excelled and travels long distances on foot with the pride and stakes his claim as an official member, although he still is quite young. As far as I know he is still alive.
Unfortunately, having no-one else to play with, he took it all out on mom...who was becoming a little agitated.
The light was darkish as the storm was building.

Lovely intimacy, great depth of field and perfect light. If this is a crop I would like to see a little more space under the mother's paw but that doesn't detract from the feeling.
As a cat lover appreciate the curve of the cub's tail! :)
thanks for the comments guys...this is unfortunately full frame at the bottom - only shaved a bit off the top. the position our vehicle stood in made it difficult to get the foot in entirely
