    Default Where do I start?

I am a newbie bird photographer, well newbie photographer! Bought a D7 2 months ago w 100-400mm telephoto, so
I am getting bird shots. Now what do I do! Any suggestions as to where I should begin to learn how to process? I have an existing copy of Photoshop 2 I'd be willing to buy an upgrade or other program but not sure at all where to jump in. Thanks so much

To learn postprocessing, I rather like the Scott Kelby books on Photoshop and Arthur Morris's Digital Basics pdf file which you can buy from the Birds as Art store.

One small twist: if you have an older copy of Photoshop, as I understand it you won't be able to use the Adobe raw converter with the 7D since it is a newer camera. However, for raw conversion, DPP (provided free with your camera) is very nice. The manual is very concise but OK.

    Ann,
Good advice so far. I suggest getting Art Morris' Art of Bird Photography 2 (I believe this is in digial form only). On the 7D, people seem to agree that the canon supplied raw converter works much better than any other 3rd party software. This is because the 7D has an unusual Bayer filter and Canon seems to know best how to convert the raw files for that camera. Photoshop 2 is pretty old, but has the basics. One problem though is you'll want to work the raw files in 16-bit mode and the older versions of photoshop were pretty limited in handling 16-bits/channel files.
