    Default Ruby-throated Hummingbird

    Canon 7D, 500mm f/4L, manual mode, 1/640" @ f/8, ISO 400, tripod, natural light

This is the male RT Hummingbird that hung around my backyard for nearly 3 weeks...he was not shy of me or the camera.

Absolutely love this one, Duane, you really nailed it. Perfect pose, killer OOF BG and the flowers really add to the composition. Given that you weren't using a flash, the wings are remarkably sharp for 1/640 sec exposure, and I love the feet hanging out. Congrats!

Excellent shot Duane. Love the pose, colors, and lighting. At first look I thought it was perfect (still do) but I started wondering what it would look like cropped as a panoramic. Here's my attempt. I was trying to place even more emphasis on the flowers and the bird by eliminating the rest.

Love this too. I'd stick with the original composition as the position of the bird seems more balanced, perhaps because it leaves him looking into a corner. It also keeps the plant connected.

Duane, Very nice sharp details and the Lantana looks great too. I might take a slice off the bottom to the middle of the left lower leaf if it were mine. Beautiful BG. Well done.
