A lovely pose and a great bird but the harsh light and poor light angle have resulted in an image that is way to contrasty with no detail at all in the blacks. In addition, the reds, oranges and yellow are way oversaturated.

Wow, very neat looking raptor! The harsh light did not help you at all here especially in the darker tones. Although its body is pointing left it is acyually looking at right therefore I'd prefer less room at left and more at right for it to look into. Super cool species that I hope you will share more of! :-)

Peter an interesting species here and your repost has greatly improved the image. The re-crop has cut off a bit too much off the bottom leaving little space for the virtual feet.

In this harsh light I may have been tempted to use some fill flash to reduce the hard shadow of the bill and to show more details in the darker feathers.

Hi Peter, my favorite eagle! I have never had an opportunity as good as this to photograph them. The nits are mentioned, though the repost is a lot better, there is nothing you can change about the angle of the sun. Still it was definitely worth taking the image!

A favourite eagle and nice pose.
The re-edit seems more natural colours.
I have darkened highlights on the re-edit by just a smidgin.

Better, but once you learn sun angle you can position your vehicle or have the driver-guide position the van so that your shadow is pointing at the subject. later and love, artie

ps: Using a whole lotta flash to light the shadowed side would also have helped.
