    Default Black and White

I unexpectedly found this racing pigeon while photographing ducks on a local river.

Reflection on the bird's head might be a bit tight? I don't have any room on the bottom. I moved the black point to change the dark green background to black. Did some smoothing out on water also.

100-400mm L lens handheld, arm braced on a rock. Manual exposure
    Camera Canon EOS 7D
    Exposure 0.003 sec (1/400)
    Aperture f/8.0
    Focal Length 400 mm
    ISO Speed 640

I like the mood, setting and B/W feel. You could probably extend the canvas at the bottom without too much trouble. I might lighten the plumage that is not sunlit and the flickr link is quite distracting. I might put the bird a little further to the right in the frame following the rules of thirds.

Very dramatic presentation. Other than extending the canvas, you could total crop the reflection. MOving the bird further to the right may also look good.
Thanks for sharing an unusual image :)
