    Hi

Rarely seen in NW England this juvenile created great excitement amongst local Bird Watchers today. Lots of BIG hardware on show, I did my best :-)

Hi Richard, nice pose and head angle. Unfortunately the sun was working against you. Ideally, you want to put the sun directly on your back. Additionally, a low angle might be preferred, I might try to lay on the shore for a shot like this. Noise in the background make me suspect this is a heavy crop.

    Hi Dave

No control over positioning, taken from hide, no access to shore, was cropped will recheck noise.
Had to take tooo rare to miss :-). Will post additional pic with bird facing to right on eager forum.

Looks like a heavy crop Richard. Maybe a looser one would increase IQ and would give the bird some room which it needs.

Boy do these look like short-billed Lesser Yellowlegs!

    Hi John

    Does this work better
PP in CS4 - - selective sharp bird only, much less crop, NR in CS4

    thanks for comment :-)

IMO, the critical focus is in the water rather than in the bird, which looks a not soft as presented. You could increase the EXP a bit and not so much contrast in post processing. TFS.

    Hi Fabs

critical focus in water - may be right but how does that happen I was using single point right on eye AI SERVO?
    note exp/contrast

Richard, in my experience, wavy water is an AF magnet, making it rather difficult to keep focus in the subject, because the SERVO likes to run after the water's movement. Solution: Capture many :)
