Watched this Common Tern bathing in the hope off getting it in the "drying" stages. After they bathe they fly up off the water a few inches in what I guess is an attempt to dry their feathers. They give the appearance of landing/lifting off. Another fun to watch behavior.

Nice sidelighting and head angle Joe. The IQ on the face looks off to me... possibly missed AF or degraded IQ from cropping?

Great light and pose, love the translucency of the backlit wings. Focus may have grabbed the water under bird?

Joe, Nice timing and the soaking wet look is great. I agree the focus seems to be on the tail more but I do like the image a lot and might try to sharpen the head and eye some more. Nicely done!:)
