    Default Double-crested Cormorant Juvi

I was not expecting to find this one at the tiny lake I visited yesterday. I didn't see any other cormorants, either adult or juvenile. He looked kind of lonely... Shot in harsh sun, late afternoon but direct. Sorry about the dark eye, I tried to lighten it but that only made it look wrong.

Nice detail sir. Coposition is a little centered for my taste but a fine image same. Softer light would've been nice but you take what you get. ;)

Hi Kerry, Very nice shot. Lots of detail. I will not hold off on shooting these any more based on the beautiful picture you have here.

    QUESTION FOR EVERYONE:

I had assked this in an earlier post and didn't get a response. I figured I would ask it again as this is Eager To Learn Forum. I hope you all don't mind. I don't have anything to post at this time or I would have out it in My own post.

Here are the questions: Can some one please explain DATING while in flash mode. I recently had it come up on my camera and saw it it one of the posts here, I didn't know what it was or how to use it.?

ALSO while shooting inside with or without the flash I had orange tint to my pics. Is there any resolve for it?

    Thanks.

Good looking bird Kerry. I really like all the detail shown without having a harsh look to it.

Photo seems a bit dark on my monitor.

I did not realize what stubby little legs they have.

I really like the pose and the shots you get with the 400mm.

Sorry Vince, can't help with your question. As a suggestion if you don't get an answer here, questions asked in one of the discussion forums always seem to get good answers.

Hi Kerry Good looking young girl !! Light was not kind to you but sure did well !! ... not having the eye come out well sure makes a difference, difficult to restore ... but easy to borrow from another !!!

Vince The cast should be coming form a light source assuming there is nothing wrong with the sensor !!! .. did you try in another location? Can't help on the other but eagerly waiting for replies !!

Hi Kerry - agree with the comments above - light angle being the main issue - love the shooting angle and the detail.

Al, Thanks for the reply. I hope it isn't the sensor. Any other way of checking out the sensor?

Never heard of flash DATING... Kerry, you needed to be more to your left to better parallel the subject. #1 rule however in harsh light is to have your shadow pointed directly a the subject.... So likely that you would have had to move to your left and then swim a bit.

Artie, you are correct. I would have had to walk out into the lake, which I was not prepared to do.

Moving left a bit along the shoreline would have helped a bit :)
