    Default Digital Creation - poppy

The flowers in the Rocky Mountains have been spectacular this year and I find that I just cannot resist the brilliant colors. Photographing flowers with a macro lens is new to me as my usual style is a detailed bird photo. However I have been inspired by OOTB photos and have been trying to capture more of a "feel" than a portrait. Here is one of my efforts. This is a poppy that appeared in my yard. I used CS5 and liquify. I could not figure out how to access a pane 2 to post the original.

Just reply to your own post with the pic Nancy. Very pretty colours and I like the liquify tool. If it were mine I might crop out the dark part at the top or clone it out. I love these flowers.

Thanks for the info, Jackie. Here is the original photo. I see what you mean by that dark spot at the top. My thought was that the eye would follow the dark shadows radiating from the right side and that top dark spot pulls your attention up instead.

Nancy, Excellent use of the liquify tool. I really like the way you left the area around the center in tact. Very well done. Colors are vibrant and beautiful. I might clean up the tiny tiny strip on the right lower edge if it were mine.

Nancy, I love to hear that you are trying different ways of thinking about images and that you were inspired by OOTB. :) This is a very well done image with great impact. I love the painterly look you got with the liquify tool. Would look really nice as a large print.
