    Default Greater Yellowlegs Portrait

I always try to challenge myself to create more verticals. Especially when photographing shorebirds. Here is my best go at at a vertical of the cooperative Yellowlegs I photographed last weekend.

Reflection isn't the greatest, but the comp is awkward without it.

looks nice, I would be tempted to crop tighter and lose the clipped leg. nice light

Hey Aidan, I like the soft light, sharp, with lovely pastel colours in the BG. Comp wise, I agree with Arash to lose the clipped leg, and if this were mine, I would take away the reflection completely. I always say - either a full reflection, or no reflection, even though it may not be a defined reflection. Maybe its just how I see things. ;)

Aidan, I like the soft golden water and the head angle is nice. Sharpness looks fine. I agree the crop is awkward with the piece of leg included. Nice to see you working these guys :)

Good comments from above and agree on the cropping. Love the excellent detail and eye contact.

Vertical shore birds are always tough , but when its done right , as this is , it works. It looks a bit bright but the comp. works very well.

Aidan, this must have been a tough one to compose/crop. Not sure what would have worked best here. Loved the sharpness a lot. Thx for sharing.

I like the composition, sharpness, eye contact, soft light and that you included the reflection.
