Another one from Southern Ontario. This is cropped a bit and some branches have been taken out.

Classic small bird in frame !! lower right placement is just fine .. having the singing pose makes the space up top so much better !!! Might brighten a bit more and wish the head area had more detail !! Excellent image !!!!

I agree with Alfreds comments. Nice soft light on this shot. Background is very nice also. Congrats!

Beautiful singing pose and background. Captured the signature plumage nicely. I might be tempted to brighten the eye and surrounding area, and maybe clean up the multiple catchlights in the eye.

Hi Dave, I like the subject and pose. I feel there is too much space around the bird diminishing it's strength. Over cropping might hurt the overall quality...

    Hi Dave,

American Redstart is one of the passerine birds that exhibits delayed plumage maturation. That is the males don't acquire the typical alternate (breeding) plumage by their first breeding season. There are others, e.g., Orchard Oriole, redpolls.

The bits of black and orange in this bird give it away as a male. So you have a fine image of a 1-year old male American Redstart.

Thanks everyone for the comments and suggestions.

And thanks Delcan for ID correction. It is very interesting. I did see a mature male and they are quite colourful.
