Hi Everyone,
This was taken at Wakodahatchee last February. I deliberately underexposed the image, but not enough, so I helped it along a bit with levels and curves until I had the effect that I wanted.

elegant to say the least. Well crafted, enough detail so we know what the image is, but lots of room for mystery too.
Transillumination of bill extra special.
On a traditional image, I would say it was too tight, but with the reduced info here, it works well.
I like this!. The back lighting of the feather is lovely. The splash of color of the bill draws my attention from the back-lit feathers and the rim lightning of the neck provides an interesting path. Perhaps a little more room a the bottom (not much)? I find myself wishing for a little more rim lighting on the top of the head. However, this is very beautiful as presented. Nicely done!
Hey, Nicki. I love this kind of image and think you did really well here. The curve of the bird through the frame is great and of course the light is awesome. Since you said you cropped, I actually would prefer a little bit more room all around.
Greg, Fabs and Krijn thanks so much for your very kind words - I am very happy that you enjoyed the image :) I think that I will definitely go back to the raw file and have another go with a looser crop - when I have some time
Greg, great to hear from you :) All is very well here but am missing you and your beautiful country...:(
