Default Utterly Exhausted ~ At Rest

    Boy what a tiring morning>>>

Mom kept bringing me food but instead of feeding me like she has been....well since as far back as I can remember, she made me chase her to get it. Not only that, but she made me dive under the water and try and catch my own!

    I really need a nap.....

This is about as cute as it gets, not only the napping pose but that the chick is so wiped out that the bill is trailing in the water. :) There is a bit noise left around the bird.

    Jim:

Nice capture! I have never seen a chick quite this pooped if healthy. Must have really worked hard.
Do you know the age of this chick? I am guessing around two weeks.

Even though the catchlight is natural, off the water, I might be tempted to remove it or tone it down here.

Well exposed as usual, with good shooting angle.

Are shooting off a tripod or handheld with this 'small' rig?

    Cheers

    Randy

Good eyes Axel...it's a bit too bright in my processing room at the moment and the chemicals in the trays.....I mean the quick mask didn't make it quite softly enough to the subject.

When it get's darker and I can see better I'll take care of that.

First people want catch lights and then they don't :)

I'm shooting handheld....I may try a short monopod at some point but between the 300f4 and the 70-300VR, I haven't found a need for it yet.

Pretty easy to lean back in the seat and brace the lens of my upper arm and the camera body tight to my collarbone...seems rather stable.

PS...chick was perfectly healthy and still is :)

    Jim:

Yeah, back and forth on catchlights for sure. I do think however, when you have a very prominent eye like a loon, the color of the eye itself is sufficient, compared with a very dark or black eyed bird.

    Cheers

Cute as can be. I wished so much for good light, but it was not to be. Only good light was when I was in the motel :(
That chick took a lot of action, I'm guessing. Great EXP, comp, and placing in the frame.
    Reposot rocks!

    Jim;

The eye looks much better to me on repost. Plenty of life, but not distracting.

Do you know how old the chick is?

There is a little reflection of the chicks head in the water. You are really rocking these, especially since they are taken from a kayak

Very cute shot of the chick, a tired looking baby depending on mom. Exposure, detail great. Was this shot over the 7/4 weekend or did you go out again?

This was created over the 4th of July holiday weekend.

Still haven't had a chance to really pick through it with the new job and all.

The repost without the weird catchlight is much better. Lovely scene with good HA of the parent and great colours! Excellent shot

Jim, as good as it gets. Loved the angle, calmness....and well, the chick is cherry on the top. Thx for sharing.
