Yes Kostas, if you have the Canon 100 macro 2.8 L IS , which has a 67mm filter size, you will need this adapter. It converts the 67 mm down to the size of the Canon ring flash. It does not cause any interference with the lens field of view.

The adapter comes with the twin light Kostas, not sure about the ring light, but I would imagine it does. Get the twin light if you can afford it:)

The Ring Light fits the100 f/2.8 Macro 58mm but adapters are needed for other lenses.

You should have bought the original 100 f/2.8 macro it is a better lens, I had the 100 f/2.8 L IS for 2 months and sold it at a loss, it felt cheap and the IS was of no use to me at all and IQ was IMO not up to the original.

I received the gadget & tested it out & it works great on the new 100 2.8 IS macro nice compact & light:) The rings are not interchangeable with the canon macro ring lite MT unfortunately. The 6 rings fit lenses up to 67mm.

This gadget is also compatible with Nikon & sigma lenses.

I have both the old and new 100mm macros and find them very similar optically. The IS is of great use for closeups like butterflies but not so useful for true macro. The use of AI servo focus with the new IS lens is very useful for maintaining focus while hand holding. The old one is no longer used as it has no advantages.

I have the ring flash with adapter ring. The main problem is that with the ring fitted, the lens cap no longer fits and its a pain to keep removing the adapter. I purchased a cheap lens cap and keep the adapter permanently fitted.
