I like the attentive pose, sharpness and eye contact. Maybe a bit less contrast? I would desaturate the sky a few points.

    Scott:

Axel hit the tech points. I find it an interesting composition because of the perch. If you have it, I might consider a bit more room all the way around.

    Cheers

Good overall feather detail Scott, and I like the comp and pose.

Interesting way to perch, I did a double take, though you had rotated the image :)
Agree on desaturating the sky and thanks for sharing.

Love the alert pose, beautiful eye contact and the interesting composition with the diagonal lines. Very lovely image !!

Yes to toning down the blue sky. Everything else is great, the look back head turn and the basic COMP. SH is right on. And I am even OK with the steep angle. But for me, the center portion of the perch, the one that obscures a good part of the bird's body is an image wrecker.

Scott, I hope that I did not offend you when I stated that the center branch was an image killer. I could have been more gentle by saying "o-o-f objects between the viewer and the subject are to be avoided at all costs. I wanted to be emphatic as I was sort of at a loss as to why nobody else was seeing the branch (none having mentioned it). It does sort of blend in. I do critique each image as if it were my own, and I am hard on myself. :) If you were taken aback, I am sorry.
