    I recorded this image a couple of weeks ago whilst in the North East of Majorca.
    It is normally a fairly elusive bird preferring the reeds to the open water areas and in Europe its distribution is pretty limited to small areas in Spain. Ironically one turned up in the UK about 30 miles from where I live last week, probably an escapee.

    Canon 1dMK4, 500mm and 1.4X f5.6, 1/5000 ISO400.

    The walking pose, angle, iridescence and huge foot make this one for me and only wish the bird were angled toward you,

    Great job of finding him! Impressive foot compared to the body. Pretty similar to ours here, but a little less colorful. I may make the midtowns a bit brighter and pitta it was walking away from you.
