Awesome moment captured with a lovely alert pose and good eye contact as well as good exposure and detail. I also like the low angle. It does feel a tad cooler !!!!!!!!!! :) TFS Andrew.

Great moment with white snow, blood of Snowshoe Hare and brown of bird. Great detail of whites and exposure of subject.
The hawk appears a tad flat on my monitor.

nice moment captured! pops nicely in the good light reflected off the snow...I would increase contrast and saturation on the bird slightly

Nice and cool, looking forward to Montana winter. What part???
Nice capture and catch, as presented, you could take some canvas off the left side since hawk is looking to the right. Thanks for sharing, Andrew.

Thanks all for your comments. I will try your suggestions. Fabs, this was taken west of Billings near Molt in south central MT. It was very cold. The temp was in the low teens & I was shooting into a 20+ MPH wind. It still makes me shiver when I think about it.

We passed close to Billings on January, coming back to Cody from Gardiner :)
Will be repeating again this winter :)

Fabs suggestion to have the bird on the left side of the frame is a good option, likely my first option. But once you have captured the image with the bird on the "wrong" side of the frame--and not very wrong at that, just an option, I would not recommend cropping from the left.... Better would be to live with who your brought to the dance and crop from the right and the bottom to tighten things up. I added 6 points of BLACK to the BLACKs and the NEUTRALS in Selective Color for the repost.

Thanks Artie. Your subtle changes make the hawk "pop" more than my original post.

YAW, and yes, it was looking a bit washed out. I have an action to add 2 points of BLACK to the BLACKs and also to the NEUTRALS in Selective Color. So I hit my f/9 key three times :) All of the details on that and everything else that I do in Photoshop are in Digital Basics.
