Taken at Assateague NWR, VA. This egret spent quite a while in a secluded drainage stream preening. I was attracted by the stretch of its wing curving down to its tail-feathers & the light on its legs, thru to its reflection. The water droplet was an unexpected plus. Since I was concentrating on form, I elected not to select a shot with the requisite eye visible as it would detract from the pattern.

Reason: Rotated image
A situation well seen by you. I love the white on black, and something rare for me I also like the blue cast on the egret. The vertical lines created by the legs, feathers, and their reflections are quite cool!! Although I understand your point about the eye, I would still prefer to have see it and personally think the image would have been stronger with it visible. The image may need a slight CW rotation.
Well, I also saw the need to rotate, but fell better now that Daniel saw it. Somehow, the comp looks unbalanced to me since the wing reflection is missing. I think a more square crop wool look better.
Thanks for participating in the project.
