Whenever I see the Osprey nests, I always wish for a more eye level view........which just isn't possible. You got them both in view and a nice habitat shot that really shows the detail of their nest. I wish the one on the right wasn't obscured by the branch. I'm wondering if the point of focus was on the front of the nest rather than back on the birds. Do you nornally use ISO 160? I'd certainly bump up the ISO just for more shutterspeed and DOF when needed.

Hi Lana, thanks. This particular pair flies when I get out of my truck so this was taken out the window. Also this is the first time I have used iso 160 in over three years of digital imaging. I either use the center spot focusing or the full cluster and I don't remember for this. Probably spot and I focused on the front of the nest. Hard to tell now. Thanks for taking the time for comments. bf :)

If you ever want to know what focus points you used, you can open the original image in Canon's Image Browser and it will show you. I think Breezebrowser may do it as well but I'm a Mac person and can't use Breezebrowser.

Thanks Lana, Zoombrowser to the rescue. I was using single center point focus and it was on the left bird right at the shoulder. Ir does look soft though? Should have used a higher ISO to help that. Next time?

Although a steep angle its a nice shot of the two in their nesting box. I do wish that the bird on the right was in the clear and sharper. I agree with Lana on needing more DOF.
