This was taken on my recent trip to Costa Rica. It was taken in the wild in natural light and it was one of the smallest hummingbirds that I saw. considerably smaller. The head may appear a tad soft but the head was rather furry looking instead of separate feathers.

Judy, I am a fan of shallow DOF but its a too shallow here even for me :-) esp. with the branch coming towards the camera and the way the bird is sitting. I loved the pose, comp and exposure a lot. You must have been few feet away....must have been amazing. TFS.

What an adorable critter. I think if you gave it another round of sharpening, it would improve greatly. EXP, head turn and BG all look great.

So cute! I love the color of the feathers. I know that great things are done with flash set-ups, but I am a fan of natural light in the wild.

Judy Lynn, I love the natural light and the details on this gorgeous little bird. It is such a thrill to see them so close up in the wild - one of the highlights of my trip to Costa Rica too :D

Lovely green iridescence Judy, with a super pose too. The HB stands out so well from your smooth BG.
