Trying to keep up with Keith Carver's gannet postings, he in Bonaventure and me in Cape St. Mary's. This one is another portrait (BTW, gannets apparently don't fly in Cape St. Mary's - they're all found on the grass;)). I promise my next post will be a flight shot.

Not sure if this is Kosher, but reposting, but in with a different crop, now square (previous was squarish). What d'y'all think?

Angle, setting, sharpness and BG look very good. I might desaturate a few points and like the idea of a vertical crop but would add a bit canvas at the bottom and crop a tad off the left.

I could go for both crops. I saw plenty of flight at the Cape and you were very fortunate not to have the intense fog present most of the summer days. By the tine the fog clears, the birds are gone :(
I like the detail in the feathers,, EXP control and sharpness and I always go for OOF green in the FG :)

Sure is nice and crisp, love the crop, prefer the original crop to repost and agree slight desat might work better.

Thanks, everybody. Axel, here's a recrop of the original (I did have more grass, but cropped it following a suggestion on an earlier image that I had too much grass), as per your suggestion, and desatted a bit.

Fabs, we couldn't even see the visitor's centre at the Cape from the parking lot, it was so foggy. We went for breakfast, then waited another couple of hours for the fog to lift - only to have it rain!

Saturation looks good in the repost. I would probably add some more canvas top and bottom.

Thanks, Axel. But then I end up turning my square into a slight vert.
