OK OK just this one more and I'll stop (I promise).....same setup as before and same shutter speed (1/160) but dropped the f stop to 7.1 thus allowing more ambient light to be part of the image.....the result is just a little more wing blur.
This is a beautiful image, Joel. I need to go back and look at your first two posts to see what your setup is. I don't see catch light from a flash, so I'm presuming either no flash or use of a mini-softbox. The BG is very nice and the bird looks nice and sharp to me. The wing blur gives a rather angelic effect.
Joel, I went back and looked at your first and second posts and read your description of your setup. I have seen many shots with the wings frozen, via flash, but tend to prefer some motion in the wing which makes the image feel less static and more natural. In this respect, your third post is your best. I have seen Hummers end up with multiple catch lights in this type of setup. I am wondering if you had to remove any light reflections from the eye in post?
Hi Joel - like it - best way to learn get out there and experiment.
Only thing I would say is perhaps the bird is a little centred for my tastes.
Keep em coming :)
Hi Joel, You caught the bird in a good position along with a sharp head. For my taste I like to see some definition in the wing and not a complete blur. More like the wing on the right.
