Have been experimenting with HDR and find it fascinating. Anyone else out there working in HDR? Please let me hear from you.
South Florida clouds are awesome this time of year. They are my principle subject. Have included an attachment of recent HDR cloud picture. Comments welcome!

    Hi James,
I teach HDR photography every fall at Miami Dade College. Quite recently I have two entries in my Blog about HDR capture and processing. Please visit.
I also think there's quite a few photogs in here that use that technique. Your image is very nice, I feel it could use a boost in saturation, and I'll give you atip for the clouds, Micro-smoothing can really help when they get too dark and grungy. Also, making fast exposures if it's windy will get you better definition in them.
I think we met when you bought my lens???

    Right on Fabs,
I bought your 600mm and am still loving it. Would love to attend your class, but Miami-Dade is a bit far away. Have you published anything on HDR?
I realize my pics have a way to go. So many sliders, so little time. I have been using Photomatix. It's an improvement over CS4 alone.
Micro-smoothing seems to be the key. Fast exposures make sense. If there's movement (like people on beach walking), I have taken the "base" photo in the series of 5,
reloaded it as a layer, then masked it into the final photo (layer) above.
    Regards and Thanks,
    Jim Graham

Jim, while HDR alone is good at getting cloud detail in high contrast scenesl, the structure feature on Nik Viveza II is great at pulling out cloud details especially with heavy overcast skies.

I have a high sarcasm rate. Deal with it.

Thanks for the input, Michael. I downloaded Nik Viveza II and found that it's easy to use and great at getting cloud details.
