    Default Nosepicker in the Smokies

Call it the revenge of the nature photographer. While at Cades Cove in Great Smoky Mountain National Park, I was driving the loop road with my long lens and beanbag to get photos of the wildlife and birds in the park so as to least disturb them. That's why they built the road there. There's also a lot of signs saying "Do Not Feed or Harass Wildlife" and most of the fields are fenced off as well. So you would expect most folks to respect the rules out there and simply view the wildlife from outside the fence.

Well, as you can expect, while I'm focusing my attention to a group of deer grazing out in the fields, I notice a bunch of nosepickers walking up towards the deer (in flip flops of course), past the sign that says "Do Not Harass the Wildlife" with their point and shoot cameras to take pics for Aunt Alice from Omaha, and thus scattering the deer even further away. I mean the deer were out there such that from my standpoint, I needed 700mm to get one to fill 1/2 a frame on a 7d. So you can imagine how close these folks had to get to get their prize winning photos.

So one look at what I was dealing with, and I of course had to take a photo to post online. So here you have it folks. Do you hear Dueling Banjos in the background? This is a full frame shot.:D

Astounding specimen. Reminds me a bit of the huge, 1,500 lb brown bear that I got up in Alaska. Exposure looks good, but things a little soft. Did you forget to turn your engine off? Either that, or you're OOF or too low on S/S.

That's a lot of elitist, snobbery packed into one post.

    nah ... satire

but I do get ticked off when folks ignore the Rules which are clearly posted and harass wildlife or put themselves or others into danger. I don't care from where or who they are, if they are in my sights, I will bust them and post their pics online. ;) Some of the worst offending nose pickers have Harvard degrees so I don't discriminate. I just respect the parks, danger and the wildlife. :D

:D I actually laughed out loud. Additional comments from other members had me laughing so hard I could have fallen out of my chair.

On a serious note, the signs that politely ask folks to respect the wildlife are there for good reasons but there seems to always be some people who feel the rules do not apply to them.

Satire indeed, and well stated Michael. :)
