Although the DOF didn't cover the entire bird, I was happy with the result of F9 here. Close to full frame. The eye color, a light brown, was not the red I see most of the time with Anhingas, and I'm thinking it must be because it is a juvenile, although size wise it wasn't much smaller than an adult.
    comments and critique welcomed. regards~Bill

Hi Bill, Very well handled. Love the pose and the sharpness of the eye area and neck which seem to be on the same plane. In this case most of the OOF areas don't bother me due to the strength of the head. I would have preferred the feather area where he's preening to be sharper. Complimentary backround with very nice lighting...

This is a very nice composition Bill, with terrific detail in the head and the neck. The light homogenous BG contrasts nicely with the bird, creating no BG distractions (we don't always get that with our shots!). I think this is a wonderful image, just as it is.

Excellent Bill - lots to like here - Do agree with you about the DOF - enough to get the bill in focus would have been nice.
But still a very very nice portrait!

Bill, I love it. The image has a lot of appeal to me. I like the sharp details in the face and neck area. Very nice curve of the neck.
