Painted Clouds

Not painted by me, but the colors were so brilliant it looked that way. Building and sailboat are near the marina at the Tenn-Tom Waterway in Columbus MS. It's a bit dark as it was pretty dark when I made it and the foreground was underexposed but I like it like that (and it didn't lighten up very well). I used Topaz Adjust to add a little pop to the image, colors and details.

Judy, I really like the composition and the sky is awesome. Topaz gave the boat and house a nice graphic look. I might crop a little off of the side with the house but I like it as presented. The light in the window really adds to the look.

Judy, Really lovely sky and the scene is pleasing-it seems very calm even with the fire in the sky. I wonder if opening up some of the foliage might look nice too.

Thanks Cheryl. Yes I could trim a little off the right side. The light in the window is a nice reflection. It's actually a business headquarters so no one is there at sunset. It would sure be nice to live there on the lake and see all the sunsets!

Thanks Denise. It's strange, it looks lighter in Photoshop where I 'm using a dark gray background and on my website with a dark background. I think all the white surrounding it and other dark images on this forum make them look darker because it fools the eyes. I could lighten it a little but I tried to do it once and it just went to gray. I'll have another go at it tomorrow.

Judy, this is a very nice post-sunset scene. I love the colors and that one patch of blue sky. I agree with comments about the foreground. I think it wants to be either a silhouette or have some details, as the eye tries to pull out more detail when there is just a little, if any of that makes any sense... :cool:

I agree with you about the dark images looking darker with a light background. You can really see this when looking at some of the chiaroscuro images from last week. I find that it helps to hold my hands out flat in front of the screen, framing the image and keeping some of the light spill off of it. Would be great if we could have the "lights out" option when viewing here!

I'm with you on "lights out". I just looked at the image again on my site http://southernexposure.zenfolio.com/fierysunsetjuly29 and you can see more detail/lightness in it. It's also larger as I post them usually at 1600 px wide and you see them that size in "lights out" mode.
