Hi Everyone, Here is my first offering for the Feathers project. I apologize for it being OOTB - mods, if it is not suitable for this forum please feel free to move it - but I wanted to share it anyway, as I felt that that it captured the spirit...This was taken a couple of years ago at Ding Darling. I converted it to B/W and extended the canvas a little at the bottom.400D 100-400 @400mmISO 200f/8 1/640Exp comp @ zeroLook forward to your C & C's!Best regards to all,NickiPS I can't get the smilies to work...
Nicki, liked this a lot. B&W treatment works very well here IMO. Certainly well timed as they do this thing for a very brief moment and without any advance notice :-) Thx for sharing.
I like the black and white presentation. In my opinion, for the feather project this works really well. I like the view of the wind blown feathers (nice and sharp). My main comment is that s a little too much empty space in either side of the bird for my taste. Perhaps a vertical of some space taken off the right our right) to move the bird off center might be something to consider. Just a suggestion based on my personal preference. I also would be tempted to tone down the light strips in the background to see how that effected the presentation. Nicely seen and captured. Thanks for sharing.
Kaustubh and Phil, thank you for your very kind comments and suggestons. Phil, I shall definitely have a play with the crop. I do like the bird centrally placed, but would consider a vertical too. Those light strips are so difficult to get just right... Kaustubh you are right - no warning!
Hi Nicki, I figured you had explored/considered other presentation. If your happy with the placement of the bird in frame then so am I. :) I made a quick attempt at toning down the light strips in the background to provide a comparison. This was quick and with a little more time I am sure you could do a better job of it. I was curious how it would effect the presentation. I'll leave it up to you if it is an improvement or not. Something to consider if you approve of this type of adjustment. Once again a lovely image which I have enjoyed.
I like the placement of the bird, maybe a bit more off centered to the right. I love the B&W with the wind blown feathers, this was an excellent choice on your part! I'm generally not drawn to bird-hiney shots, but I do like this one for some reason. :)
Nicki, B&W is OK in Avian and so is extending canvas, so I'll keep Norma Jean here :)
From this image you can see why they were chased for the feathers, what a display.
I think a vertical crop would suit this perfectly.
An over the shoulder look would have put this over the top.
I like how the golden slippers still show in B&W.
I can hardly wait to see what else you got up that magic sleeve of yours...
Phil, Connie and Fabs, thanks so much for your kind words and helpful input. Phil, thank you for taking the time to work on the image - much appreciated and I think that this work work equally well. I'm glad that you have enjoyed the image...
