Besides the cooler temps I'm looking forward to winter to have these guys around at Anhinga Trail Always posing and entertaining ... not as destructive as their cousins the Black Vultures !! btw processing is much right out of camera except for the white part of beak, selected in select by color made a new layer then multiplied. Texture came right out and looked better !!

    Comments welcome and much appreciated

Hi Kostas The second bird was far enough back it blurred on its own and looks closer form the compression

Al, beautiful light and sharp. Nicely positioned with a pleasing backround. I'm not sure about the rear bird but it is muted enough to stay in the backround and not take away from the center of interest...

Beautiful comp and detail. Don't mind the oof bird, except that my eye keeps going to the circular ring around his eye. Thanks for the PP tip.

The pp makes the bill look great. Can you elaborate a little bit more on what you did?

    Thanks

Hi Ray This is basically out of the camera Added two points of neutral and black in selective color, used the curves pre set (linear contrasts) and sharpened The image was made early morning as the sun was coming over the trees and you don't much work with that !! A few minutes later it would have looked totally different !!

Work flow wise I use those two steps fairly often and if needed will use the shadow/highlight in CS5 seems to work very well now (did not like any of the previous). Will also work on the eyes darkening the pupil and lightening the iris if needed. For most images never take more than minute and a half unless there is something unusual worth working on ...have taken to delete things that would take lots of work. ... forgot and PhotoKit for getting rid of noise !!

Hi Al - Gorgeous - OOF BG bird works for me - can just see enough of the eye/face for it to work for me.
    Like it!!

Lovely Alfred, I really like the composition and exposure of this image. I'm also intrigued to know what the head would look like and what sort of details you'ld get in a FF portrait shot.

Hi Mark. Will try finding a full frame ... Btw in flight they are very difficult as far as detail. Started getting some keepers when I switch to the MK4 & 7 D
