out early on the lake this morning - painted a bunch of images, discovered later that I had left the IS off:D this scaup was the only salvageable image - like the colors in the water.

    hand held, Canon 30D, 420mm (300 4.0 + 1.4), f/5.6 1/125 0EV ISO 200

    comments and critiques appreciated.

    Bruce,
I also like the water colors and really nice eye contact, and the obvious swimming into the frame. I've hit the IS switch by accident before, bummer.

I wonder how the image would look with the lower water trail from the duck coming in right at the corner? Feels like the over all color needs a bit of a bump maybe?

hi bruce, in this instance a lower shooting angle would have helped a lot. without a reflection in the water, the lower shooting angle usually works better. i agree with nonda about the color and i think a little contrast in the water would help out too.

    Hi Nonda
I tried to bump up the colors, but it created a lot of noise. I'll see if cropping to put to put the water trial down by the right corner will improve the comp. thanks for looking.
