Osprey feeding her young. The nest was on Kinzua Reservoir in the Allegheny National Forest in Pennsylvania. My husband and I were in a boat on the reservoir when we spotted the male bringing a fish to the nest. I used a Canon 10D with a Canon 100-400 IS lens, at ISO 400, and the lens all the way out at 400mm. Taken at 1/500 at f5.6.
PS. I really have been enjoying this sight. So much information and so many beautiful photos.
Thanks Janet.
Great Janet that you were able to capture this family sharing lunch and to get eye contact with all four of the ospreys is a real achievment. I would like to see a little more room to the left as it is a bit tight and perhaps some cropped off the left. The whites appear a tad hot my monitor Wonderful to see this interaction and many thanks for sharing.
Welcome to BPN, Janet! Lovely behavioral image as your first post. I think young Osprey look great with their orange eyes and lots of detail available in the wings. The whites look a little hot here.
Thank you all for the kind comments. I really love this web site. There are so many talented photographers out there. PS. As I was sitting here on the computer watching the snow storm outside, the UPS driver just delivered my new Canon 40D......present from my husband.
I can't wait to use it.
Nicely done as above. The eyes of the birds do not look at all sharp, esp. one in from the right. Selecting and darkening the pupils can increase the apparent sharpness... later and love, artie
