    Default Black Turnstone posing

A completely unexpected encounter last week at Bolsa Chica Wetlands was provided by this Black Turnstone which suddenly landed on the railing of the famous footbridge and stuck around... for 30 seconds. It must have been talking to the Forster's Tern who use this as a roost at night.

    Thanks in advance. JR

    Hi Joerg

Superb background and nice detail in the bird. Very sharp... Perch is a little ordinary looking but famous apparently....:D

Very unexpected, and very much out of its typical habitat! Perfect HA and exposure. Tack sharp too. I'm not a huge fan of the perch but you take what you can get :)

    Well done!!

Like the color of the background and details/sharpness of the bird. Well-handled !

Sharpness and soft light look very good. I'm wondering if a lower angle would have made the perch less prominent.

Thank you all for the kind feedback. I know the perch is a bummer - at least it's largely clean - but I can live with it given the image overall. JR

I had the pleasure of photographing one while in San Diego, they are sure beautiful and the green BG sets him off nicely. Very good angle, and tach sharp. Only wish for a more natural perch, I'm sure you too :)
