I took this photo several weeks ago. The daylilies are now past.
Nikon D300; Sigma 105mm macro with Canon 5D closeup lens; f13 ("relative"), 1/15 sec., ISO 640 (don't know why it was so high), tripod, natural light, manual focus (live view), manual exposure. I can't remember if I took this indoors or out. PP: PS7 and Elements 7, basic adjustments, minor crop, denoise.
I also love the swirling colors of the rose around the frame. I do wish the inside stamen were a bit more in focus but think this still works as a beautiful abstract.
Great idea I just wish there was some particular area for me to fix on, most of the image is a little soft I would like to see more - was the close up lens really necessary?
Really like this approach. Seems like a sea of red waves are landing on the stamens. Great vision an execution. Thanks for sharing...

Hey Anita,
I am always impressed when people post shallow DOF images that are this nice! No secret that I love max DOF.......and while I can see the more in focus point.....I love the dreamy look of this as presented! Only recommendationis if you have a sliver more room on the right....including more of the curve....only would strengthen this outstanding abstract.
