This is another image of my recent trip to Kimberley. The South African Shelduck male did not tolerate any other ducks in the vicinity, in this case the victim was a Cape Teal. I moved the teal slighlty closer to the shelduck to improve the composition.
Great light, captured action, angle, setting and BG. Thanks also for the explanation, I am not familiar with these species but find it amazing how much bigger the Shelduck is.
Light and colours are fantastic! The Shelduck in itself makes a lovely image cropped as a vertical with more room top and bottom. Personally I don't see the need for the digital creation in here and the inclusion of the softer Teal. (although I have to admit I could never have guessed... )
Either of these birds would have made a great image, but, combined, even better. Especially like the entire shelduck wingspan facing us, as well as the feet. Shimmering water and compelmentary background also a plus. Well done.
You are a master of action. Love the wing position of the smaller duck and wish only that it had taken off square to the camera rather than away. Amazing sharpness and d-o-f.
