Default Tiger Swallowtail - Macro Pic with a Wide Angle Lens

Was at Grandfather Mountain, NC last week with the 7d and 500mm to get close up shots of wildlife e.g., bears, eagles, etc. I always carry my G10 for landscape and macro opportunities that come up. Well I came across an amazing garden there with butterflies and bees, flowers, etc. My G10's battery ran out. My spare battery was charging back in the room. Doh! So I improvised. I had one lens with me other than my 500, a Canon 28mm 1.8 lens that I take with me for low light shots indoors and in cities, etc. It's small and always with me in case of emergency. Well as I had no other lens with me, I said, what the heck, and to my surprise, I did manage to get some workable macro shots of the tiger swallowtail and some flower shots as well. This is a full frame handheld image. Granted, I did have a cooperating critter, but for the last minute improv, I would have missed some fun shots of the bugs and flora. This lens ability to close focus even got me some nice DOF blur as well at f/4. So imagine that.:D

Colours look good and looks pretty sharp. Never would have even thought of using a WA lens.

Hi Michael, The butterfly is sharp with good detail. I would also try and blur the backround more due to some distracting elements...
